piNgu we miss you!!

No one can replace you.
To others, this will sound absurd, ridiculous or whatever term others may think. But for our family, Don-don is a great loss.
He first came to us on April, 2006. He was the cutest puppy I’ve ever seen. My mom called him Don-Don after my brother’s alias Bradon. Don will be our present to Ryan (my only brother) because he loves dogs so much. When he called (Ryan), we told him that we adopted a baby boy and named the baby after him, not knowing that it is a puppy, he agreed that it will be his adopted son. Every time he called (my brother is a seaman) , he will ask if how is the baby, his son Don-Don. My mom would tell him, he’s fine and guzzles a lot of milk. We sure do feed him with milk and dog food. After a few weeks he was able to eat rice and viands that we eat. We share to him everything that we dine and most of the time mom cooks the dishes he liked especially the “sinigang sa bayabas” whether it be fish or meat. He sure loves sinigang! unusual for a dog huh?! Mom would tell us, “Paborito ito ni Don-Don e.” And none of us complained about that. He was our adorable puppy, I used to bathe him every saturdays, I know he hates taking a bath but I cuddle him often so he must take a bath, I even bought dog shampoos and soaps to so that he will smell good. He’s the only one, the only dog that I allow to sleep in my room.
We treated Don-Don like our baby. And he loves us too. I can feel how he loves us, he loves to play with us, especially my sister Jeng. They were constant playmates. I knew he thought he was human too. I can see and feel it. That is why I thought if you love an animal with all your heart, he will surely love you back more. He became our “bunso”. Everyone love him, even our neighborhood. They never touch or hit Don-Don because that will be the biggest mistake they will do. Everyone in the family especially me will get mad if they hurt him. We never hit Don-Don even once simply because he’s really adorable, sweet and human-like. He looks straight in our eyes each time we talk to him. He will listen to us as if he understands what we are saying. I’m sure he does, one proof of this is everytime we say “ligo” he will run away and play the chase game. He hates to take a bath, lol! When he heard that word, he will sure bark and run in circles. A signal letting us know that he doesn’t want to. And if he heard the words “Don halika” he will sure come to you. He will sure do! Especially the words “Don kakain!” Don will run fast to feast on the food. But he never forgets to left some for his friend, our pet cat Beth-Beth. He’s really a kind dog.
Don-Don is really different from ordinary dogs. Even better than Lassie and other famous dogs. Don brings joy to our family. But one fateful accident steal Don-Don from us. We didn’t know who or what had hit him, he was found dead early in the morning of October 3, my Mom let him go out of the house to pee, he usually does that every 4am, but he never came back. Later, at 5:30 am, a devastating news shattered us, he’s gone. Now we no longer hear him bark, he will no longer kiss us. We can never hug him again. Goodbye bunso…. We missed you terribly. No one can replace you in our hearts. WE love you Don… we will never forget you.
